Weston Awards: Karyn Mosca

This is not the first time Karyn Mosca has been nominated for a Weston Award. If you look back, you’ll see her name time and again over the years. That’s because she has earned a reputation among the Northeast Elementary School community as a dedicated and caring professional who is deeply committed to helping her students unlock their potential.
Ms. Mosca was lauded for creating a meaningful instructional environment where innovative teaching is used to engage students in their learning and connect to their interests. She gives feedback that encourages student growth.
A parent put it this way: “Ms. Mosca goes above and beyond to create a fun, safe, exciting learning environment for the kids. She has made my son so excited and engaged in every unit she covers. When they covered myths, he started to recount the stories in great detail at home, and asked for books to supplement what he was learning in school.”
It was noted in a nomination that Ms. Mosca checks the children’s work with meticulous care and provides positive feedback.
“She truly cares about her job and the kids and it shows in her warm, upbeat personality. My child loves going to school and is continually excited by the things that she teaches,” a nominator wrote. “They feel safe and motivated in her teaching environment. Ms. Mosca deserves to be awarded for how she goes above and beyond for her students.”
As one of MFEE’s teacher grant recipients, Ms. Mosca has worked to bring diverse books and literacy materials to second graders to captivate and challenge the emerging readers in her classroom. We know that many Northeast parents credit Ms. Mosca for helping their children learn how to read, and for helping them love to read, too.
For being a teacher who is consistently treasured by Northeast students and parents, for inspiring achievement through creative instruction and an unwavering dedication to every child’s growth, the Montclair community is proud to honor Ms. Mosca as an inspired teacher. Congratulations.
