MFEE works in partnership with a wide range of individuals and organizations in Montclair to develop initiatives that benefit the entire Montclair Public School district. Following are a list of MFEE initiatives and some of their major achievements.
Opened seven neighborhood-based tutoring sites in 1999.
Opened Laraja Gallery @ MHS in 2006.
Major funding provided by the Laraja Family Foundation.
Purchased book collections for each elementary school in 1999; purchased its 10,000th book in 2007.
Initial funding provided by the Laraja Family Foundation.
Opened in 1998; management of the course was assumed by the Montclair YMCA in 2002.
Major funding provided by family and friends of David Greenwald.
Opened at St. Luke’s Church in 2004.
Major funding provided by the Bestfoods Educational
Foundation.
Issued a report making recommendations for MHS in 2002.
Sponsored over 100 low-income
students to enroll in MPS summer enrichment programs in 2009.
Initial funding provided by the Montclair Foundation.
Outfitted a new
fitness center at MHS and launched the school’s first crew team; completed a major renovation of the Furlong Field House at MHS in 2008.

On-going support provided by Montclair Schools Rock!
Established the Weston
Engineering and Robotics Center at MHS in 2002.

Received acclaim from the Annenberg Institute for School Reform, the Tristate Standards Commission, and the Education Trust.
